American River (walk
#1) ) 11K Walk With 6K Option The trail is on dirt trails and paved
roads. Walk through
Old Town Auburn, where Gold Rush buildings still stand, pass by antique shops
and the Claude Chana Statue near where he found gold nuggets. Pass through the more modern business
district then dip into the canyon high above the North Fork of the American
River and walk along the bank of a Gold Rush era water ditch. Route is not suitable for either wheelchairs
or strollers. Pets are ok on leash with
clean-up. There will be restrooms at start
and in Old Town Auburn.
Lake Clementine/"No Hands Bridge" (walk#2) 10K Walk With 5K Option. The walk will be largely on dirt roads and trail with only a couple of moderately steep (but short) parts. Baby strollers are not appropriate. The initial loop goes downstream to the Mountain Quarries RR Bridge (popularly referred to as "No Hands Bridge", over which runners and riders cross during the famous Western States Endurance Run and the Tevis Cup equestrian event. Pets are welcome but must be leashed with proper clean up.
Town of Auburn (walk #3) 10K Walk With 5K Option. The walk is mostly on city streets with some dirt trails. This town of Auburn walk is mostly in a different area then on previous Auburn walks. Also some small portions of walk 1 will be repeated in walk 3. There will be restrooms at the start and at Recreation park.

95603 Walk 2 you will have to drive to the
trailhead. See map
From I-80 headed either east or west, take the Indian Hill Road exit. Turn left on Auburn-Folsom Road (at stop sign). Turn right onto Pacific Street. Turn right into the American River Canyon Overlook. Look for the IVV Banner.
VOLKSWALKS
START/FINISH TIME: On Friday START between 1 PM and 2 PM and FINISH by
5PM.
On Sat. and Sun. START
between 8:00 AM and 12:00 noon. FINISH
by 3:00 PM.

SPONSOR: The
Placer Pacers, AVA 686/ CVA 46 is a
non-profit California Volkssport organization dedicated to providing
non-competitive individual and family recreational sporting events.
AWARD/FEES: There will
be a patch with a quantity of 50 as pictured.
Preregistration should be mailed by the 14th of September. The award and credit will be $5.00 before
this date and $6.00 after the 14th. Credit only on all walks is $3/event, both
by preregistration or at the walk itself.
You may walk free if no credit or award is desired. Send preregistration form and check payable
to the Placer Pacers to P.O. Box 142, Auburn, CA 95604.
Refunds cannot be provided.
PROCEDURES: This event is open to everyone. Volkssports, including volkswalks, are
noncompetitive events. Walk, jog or run
at your own pace. Each participant,
whether free or paid, must register and sign an Amateur Athletic Waiver and
Release of Liability (Parent or Guardian
must sign for a minor) at the start point.
A control (start) card will be issued upon registration. It must be carried during the walk, validated
at control points along the route and turned in at the finish upon completion
of the walk. Children under 12 must be
accompanied on the walk by an adult.
Bathrooms and water will be available at the start/finish.

MISCELLANEOUS: There will be a BBQ at the start/finish starting
at noon on both Saturday and Sunday. On
Saturday there will be cake to celebrate the Placer Pacers 20th
anniversary.
